What is the admissions process for 11+ entry?

The entrance exam for 11+ entry, is early December. To ensure your child's participation, it's crucial to register before the deadline which changes each year but normally the middle of November.  No registrations will be accepted after this point, so plan accordingly.

The entrance exam assesses your child's proficiency in English and Mathematics.

Latymer Upper School provides sample papers for English and Mathematics on their website. While these samples give a sense of the question style, please note that answers or mark schemes are not provided.

What is the exam structure?

  • Mathematics Your child will face a single Mathematics paper with a duration of 60 minutes.

  • English: There are two English papers:

  • A comprehension/multiple-choice paper (35 minutes).

  • A creative writing paper (45 minutes).

After the English papers, there's a 20-minute break.

If your child is eligible for learning support adjustments, be sure to indicate this during the registration process. Supporting documents to confirm these adjustments must be submitted by the registration deadline.

11+ Interviews

If your child successfully passes the entrance examinations, they will be invited for an Interview at the beginning of January. This session is an opportunity for the school to learn more about your child's character, curiosity, and 'teachability.' It includes:

  • Half-day immersive learning activities in classroom settings.

  • A 1:2:1 interview.

The school will make appropriate adjustments for candidates with learning differences.
