We’re serious about measuring impact.
We evidence clear impact on pupil personal development.
We measure change through longitudinal mixed-method studies combining qualitative focus group and quantitative survey data. This enables us to accurately and reliably measure improvements in children’s personal and academic development throughout the mentor-mentee relationship. We measure changes in:
-
Character refers to a range of interpersonal and intrapersonal social and emotional learning skills, encompassing a child’s ability to understand and have confidence in themselves, and to collaborate well with those around them. We measure changes in character using a series of validated and bespoke behavioural survey scales, including the MSLQ Self-Efficacy subscale, the Grit S Scale, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Basic Empathy Scale and bespoke questions on self-awareness, independence, reflection, and insight.
-
Communication refers to a child’s ability to convey their emotions and thoughts accurately and eloquently, to use body language and tone to engage listeners, to feel comfortable speaking in public, and to listen actively to those around them. We measure communication through a selection of behavioural questions from the Skills Builder Framework.
-
Engagement with learning refers to a pupils’ motivation to learn, ability to take ownership of their learning, behaviour, attendance, and academic attainment. We measure changes in behaviour, attendance, and academic attainment through longitudinal quantitative data measuring change over time, and capture motivation and ownership through bespoke and validated behavioural survey questions.

Our impact in schools
Y12 student, Chelsea Academy
“This programme has helped me grow as an individual. It has also helped me interact in a way that individuals see me as a good role model and a great support role. This has hugely impacted my daily life as I have learnt many skills I wouldn’t have learnt before this excellent programme.”
Y12 student, Lodge Park Academy
“The Oppidan programme was a very influential learning experience and has taught me a lot on what it means to perform as a role model, and to be someone who has aspirations and can inspire others through them.”
