Oppidan in the USA
Oppidan Education is a global leader for mentoring children through middle school, grades 5-8. With a program of foundational skills work, Oppidan supports children to thrive within competitive schools, and to reach for future success.
What we do
We pair children with a 1:1 mentor to support their personal and academic growth, giving them a toolkit of skills to thrive within any competitive environment.
We believe every young person should have a mentor: an inspiring person invested in their future. Mentoring develops confidence, academic attainment and engagement in school life. Our mentors are trained to help unlock student potential, fulfil academic goals and nurture aspiration.
-
Middle School Journey
Ages 10 to 14
A one-year foundational 1:1 mentoring experience that supports students across three key areas – self, study skills and speaking – to be their best selves in school now and for the future.
-
Interview Journey
Ages 10 to 14
For those facing selective school placement into independent day or boarding schools, we offer a series of 1:1 sessions with a mentor. Students follow our trusted curriculum, tried and tested with more than 10,000 children at this age phase.
-
Daily mentoring
Ages 10 to 14
Bridging the gap between executive function coaching, academic tutoring and therapy, an Oppidan mentor is on call after school to spark engagement, instil good habits, foster confidence and be there to support the week’s challenges.
We know what we’re not.
Oppidan Education is not a provider of school placement advice and test prep for US schools and colleges. We are proud to partner with a handful of trusted consultants and test prep tutors who work in tandem with our approach.
We believe that ‘it takes a village’ to support a student, and encourage parents to scaffold their child’s progress through school with the right stakeholders for the right tasks.
We will be happy to discuss the wider context of your child’s school placement or college plans and to make clear how best our program of skills mentorship complements and underpins those plans.
Student stories
Salar
From Winchester College to Georgetown
Salar’s journey with Oppidan began in 2016 with the process of selective entry to secondary schools. A shy athlete, Oppidan’s programme built his confidence for speaking and writing, learning to structure his thoughts on paper, to be more organised and to express his strengths clearly to adults. On the back of a successful boarding school experience, Salar is keen to launch a career in finance from Georgetown.
