Sam Hart, Headmaster at Giggleswick: "Why I'm not passing VAT on to parents"

Sam is currently Headmaster of Giggleswick, a leading independent day and boarding School in Yorkshire for boys and girls aged 2-18.

He started his career as an Army Air Corps officer and pilot before moving to teach at Winchester College in 2008.

During 14 years at Winchester, he taught Physics amongst other commitments, including as Head of Sport, Contingent Commander of the CCF, Housemaster and leading numerous international expeditions working with a local charity.

He moved to Giggleswick as the Headmaster in January 2022.

Amidst recent political changes, the school has recently pledged not to pass on VAT to parents at the point of its anticipated nationwide introduction in January 2025.

Watch out for:

  • Sam Hart's response to VAT and why and how the school has decided to absorb the cost internally, rather than charging it to parents.
