How do we create our mentoring content?

Schools and parents always ask us: how do we actually create our mentoring content?

The answer is very simple.

We chat to students and ask them what they think.

Yesterday we welcomed Y12 students from West London Free School to help us revamp our KS5 mentoring content.

Our content was focused on:

  • Readiness – understanding failure and reducing the stigma surrounding by taking risks

  • Oracy - developing better listening skills and understanding the value of active listening

  • Character – knowing and practicing the value of empathy

So before anything goes digital or goes to print, we share our materials with students and ask them what they like and what they don't, what's useful and what is a distraction.

We DON'T mark our homework, but we DO want to create experiences that helps students with theirs.

If you’re a school leader and your Y12 students would be interested in helping shape our KS5 work for next year, we’d love to welcome them to Oppidan.
